Alianza Nacional De Campesinas – National Farmworkers Women’s Alliance
Mónica Ramírez is the co-founder and President of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas. Her work focuses on ending gender-based violence in the workplace and achieving gender equity. Mónica has served farmworker, Latina and immigrant women as an attorney, organizer and advocate. In addition, she has extensive experience in women’s leadership development and building political power. Mónica founded Esperanza: The Immigrant Women’s Legal Initiative of the Southern Poverty Law Center and The Bandana Project. She wrote a letter of solidarity on behalf of Alianza’s members to women working in the entertainment industry who disclosed workplace sexual violence against them. This letter is credited for helping to spark the TIME’S UP movement for gender equality and workplace safety. Mónica lives in Maryland with her wonderful husband and son.
